The World Snooker Rankings' Top 10 Players

The world snooker rankings are the official ranking system for professional snooker players. These rankings are used to determine who automatically qualifies for World Snooker Tour events. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains the rankings. They not only give players an idea about their ranking but also provide useful statistics about the sport.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump ranks in the top 10 for world snooker. He is known for his spectacular breaks and his ability to dominate the sport. He is the winner of 23 ranking titles, including a world championship. At 33 years old, he's still quite young and can stay at the top for at least another decade. But, he may feel tired from the grind of touring and his age.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby, an Englishman, is considered one of the top players in the world. He is a former Under-15 champion of England and a recent World Snooker Championship champion. He has also a background in pool. He was the 2006 WEPF 8-ball pool champion, and was also a finalist for the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby is originally from Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, Willie Thorne's brother, was Selby’s coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. After reaching the semi-finals at the Tour Championship, his latest move saw him surpass Mark Selby in the rankings. The Scot reached the top of the world in May 2002 and has since won 31 ranking title. His achievements include six World Championship titles and five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is the current number 10, and one of the top snooker players worldwide. In 1995, the Welshman broke into the top snooker players in the world when he won the Benson & Hedges Masters. The latter title was won by him with a respotted Black in the final. He won three ranking tournaments and became the fourth player ever to win three titles in one season.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott won two ranking titles, and reached the finals of the China Open 2010. However, his form is inconsistent. He has also suffered from depression and has openly spoken about his battle with the condition. The Australian is not ranked in the top ten of the world snooker rankings. But, he has an excellent record at home.

Dott's career

Graeme Dott, a professional snooker player since 1994 has steadily climbed up the ranks. He made it to the top 16 in 2001, and he remained there until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals for the Welsh Open in 1996. He was also runner up at the 2004 World Championship as well as the 2005 Malta Cup. In 1999, he broke his first 147-level competitive break at the British Open.

Dott's ranking

Dott's position in the world snooker rankings fluctuated over time. Six times, he has made it to the top 16. He was ranked second in 2007/8 season. However, Dott's ranking has declined since that time.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' world snooker ranking has steadily risen over the past few years. He has won a number of tournaments, including the Players Championship Grand Final in 2000. In the final, he also beat Ronnie O'Sullivan. He has also topped several world rankings. However, his biggest ranking victory came in 2001, when he defeated Anthony Hamilton in the final of the China Open.
