snooker and pool club

There are many types of pool cues available. There is an English pool, American, and jump pool cue. These types all have their own unique characteristics. You'll be better prepared to make the best decision for yourself if you learn more about them.

American pool cues

There are many differences between American pool cues, and English cues. For example, American cues are almost always split in the middle, while English cues may split at the 3/4 point. English pool and Snooker games are increasingly using 3/4 joints. This cue style allows the player to balance their weight more backwards than with a traditional one. To discover which cue you love best, try different types.

English pool cues

An English pool cue may be the best choice for you if you are an intermediate or beginner pool player. These cues are usually thinner than others and can have a tip width of up to 8 to 9 millimeters. To increase strength and durability, they often come with a brass ferrule. They can also be made of ash wood which has a distinctive grain.

Snooker cues

There are many wood options for making snooker cues. Some are made from Ash and others from maple. Some have a tip measuring seven to eleven millimeters and others measure sixteen to 18 inches. Most snooker cues are 3/4th jointed and weigh sixteen to nineteen ounces. You can also make snooker cues with a ferrule of steel, titanium or fiber.

Jump cues

Jump cues are a pool cue that has a hard tip. This helps to transfer more power to your cue ball. Jump cues can be of many different kinds, and you will have better jump shots if you choose the right one. You should consider all pros and cons before purchasing a jump cuff.

Squirt

A squirt results when the cueball strikes off-center. This creates a deflection which causes the ball travel in a different direction. The deflection occurs due to physics. However, it can also be caused a by many factors. For example, an out-of-center hit will cause a tip of the cueball to contact an angled surface. Therefore, deflection is greater for hits that are more off the center.

The size of the tip

The tip size on an English poolcue can be adjusted to suit the type of game. A cue tip measures approximately 9.5mm in size. American cues have a more pointed tip than English pool cues, which makes striking the cueball easy. However, they are more difficult to aim than the best cues for Snooker.

Common parts of an English Pool Cue

English pool cues typically are made of Ash wood. They have a brass ferrule that provides strength and a coarse leather tip that gives them grip. They are the smallest pool cues. With a length around 57inches and a tip width of about 8-9 millimeters, they are the most thin. Ash is a durable wood, with a grain pattern that is not visible. English cues have a greater flexibility than American counterparts which makes them less susceptible to warping.

An English pool cue costs approximately £100

An English pool cue costs between PS30 and PS300 depending on its quality. A good quality cue should last you for years. An English pool cue can perform well if it is large and has a good tip.
